Disarray is a disaster

While I cannot begin to describe my hatred toward a certain concept, a deviant art user successfully summed up my feelings. (Apologies in advance if you wish for me to withhold your comment from the public.)
"It's funny, because I enjoy such characters as Q, the Joker, and various other avatars of chaos. I would think that Discord would be among them, since he doesn't even murder, or threaten others with murder. But in a way, what he did was far worse. Everyone dies at some point or another; it's a fact of life we all accept eventually. Most villains just speed up the process. No, Discord did something that no one is ever prepared to experience, or ever should.

He thrust six close friends into the deepest pits of insanity, and replaced all of their love for one another with disgust and indifference in a matter of minutes.

It might sound silly at first, but really think about it. Can you imagine just how much psychological torment is involved in that situation? I'm sure the five who were directly corrupted in the maze still held on to some level of self-awareness, and realized that they had changed completely. Somehow, a behavior that had not existed before had been hardwired into their minds, and they had no power to resist it. Imagine the horror that dawned upon Applejack when she discovered that she had lost the nerve to tell the truth or own up to her mistakes. The despair that followed when Pinkie Pie lost her ability to feel happiness. The choking, crushing obsession that consumed Rarity's thoughts and made it impossible for her to take comfort in the company of her friends. The terror and self-loathing that ensued when Fluttershy became compelled to act on every niggling desire offered by the figurative devil on her shoulder we all have. And lest we forget, the distress and panic Rainbow Dash felt when her loyalties were torn in two and she was forced to make an impossible decision.

And as if that wasn't bad enough, the very foundations of their minds and souls were literally shown to crumble over time. They got worse. Mercifully for them, they probably lost their self-awareness at some point, and didn't have to deal with the pain and regret of their own actions.

Twilight was not so lucky. Because Discord had done the worst thing of all to Twilight. He let her remain sane and watch as her former friends turned into complete and utter a**holes. For a pony like Twilight that requires order and routine, and has a mental breakdown when things start to go horribly wrong, this is the worst form of torture that anyone could ever inflict on her. And we see the effects. She is utterly broken. When Discord laughs at her as she makes the walk back to her library, she doesn't get angry or (more) upset. She just takes it.

It's no exaggeration to say that what they all underwent was a very brutal form of mind rape."

I couldn't have said it better myself and I won't try to.  You may say TL;DR, but then what are you doing here?  This isn't the place for quick text messages.  That's Facebook's job.
With that, I bid potential readers ado.
